Whatcha doin' for Thanksgiving?

No heat at my house yet this time of year. Saving money and only one person lives there. 63F said the thermostat, I checked outside, 44F says the weather station. So my house is 20F warmer than outside. Now I am at FS and it is 72F. Nice! :) Wed 11/15 I mailed your letter. Hello Brandon, I decided to turn my heat on tonight. I set it at 70F. I loved DFU’s talk. I only said a couple of things about it when I sent it to you. You have had some time to process it and answer the first 2 questions he posed. He is so accepting of physical and mental illness I decided to do a little research.  It comes from Newsweek:
Kessler estimates that the prevalence of mental illness might range from 25 to 30 percent of American adults. A 2011 report published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pegs the number at 25 percent.\ Every year, about 42.5 million American adults (or 18.2 percent of the total adult population in the United States) suffers from some mental illness, enduring conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, statistics released Friday reveal. NEARLY 1 IN 5 AMERICANS SUFFERS FROM MENTAL ILLNESS EACH YEAR
BY VICTORIA BEKIEMPIS ON 2/28/14 @@@ [OK if 20% are mentally ill each year. What about healthy? What proportion are healthy?-v] A sick world: More than 95% of us are ill by Jennifer King
The bulk of the world's population is unwell, with just one in 20 healthy during the year, according to a new analysis. But what are we sick with? We're a sick lot, a large-scale inventory of global illness levels has found. [bps, good thing God gave us an immune system isn’t it!-v]

More than 95 per cent of the world's population is ill, the new analysis based on the 2013 Global Burden of Disease Study found.
What's more, a third of those had more than five chronic or acute illnesses – and Australians were among these. Low back pain and depression were the top two major health problems in Australia, in terms of their impact on people. [I really, really believe in walking and exercise for lower back pain. Teachers don’t have to use their muscles much. Painters do. My body weakened and deteriorated when I did not exercise and walking the dogs for an hour a day ended up making all the difference. It still does, even though I weigh 270 lbs!-v]
The study, published in The Lancet, examined and evaluated chronic and acute disease and injury across 188 countries from 1990 to 2013 using a tool known as Years Lived with Disability (YLD), which measures the impact of health problems impairing mobility, hearing or vision, or those causing some kind of pain.
Significantly, the study found rates of disability are rising, as people live longer and experience more illness. For example, the incidence of diabetes worldwide has increased 43% over the past 23 years while death rates from the disease have only increased 9%.
So what did the study discover about us?
The 10 leading causes of YLDs in Australia are:
  1. Low back pain
  2. Major depressive disorder
  3. Other musculoskeletal disorders
  4. Neck pain
  5. Migraine
  6. Anxiety disorders
  7. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  8. Asthma
  9. Age-related and other hearing loss
  10. Diabetes mellitus
-Diabetes YLDs in Australia increased by 212% for women and by 198% for men in Australia between 1990 and 2013.
-In both 1990 and 2013, the leading cause of YLD in Australia's women was a major depressive disorder while the leading cause in men was low back pain. These were among the top 10 greatest contributors to disability in every country in the study.
-The incidence of major depressive disorder in Australia's women has increased by 46% over 23 years while the incidence of low back pain in Australia's men has increased by 60% in the same period.
-The number of people within the entire study who suffered from 10 or more ailments increased by 52%
-Disease is not confined to the elderly, with 81% of those studied with more than 5 ailments being younger than 65 years old.
-Just 2 acute diseases – upper respiratory tract infections and diarrhoeal disease – caused more than 20 billion new cases of disease globally.[Our population is not yet 8 billion-v]
-Over the past 23 years, the leading causes of health loss around the world have hardly changed.
These findings should sound alarm bells for governments seeking to provide health care into the future for ageing populations experiencing longer life together with increased poor health.
"The health of Australians is increasingly threatened by non-fatal ailments like back and neck pains, and mental health disorders like depression and anxiety," says co-author of the study, Professor Louise Degenhardt of the University of NSW.
"At the same time, deadly disease like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes are also costing Australians many years of healthy life.
"It is critical that we understand which diseases and injuries are causing disability so that we can effectively allocate resources." Published 11/06/2015 @@ So 1 out of 20 was healthy last year!  I suspect if we did a test of DFU’s Spiritual illness we would find the same. We have to nourish our faith and testimonies to keep them alive and healthy. Did you see his metaphor about shadow? >>>Bearers of Heavenly Light by Dieter F Uchtdorf\"So, then, what is night?
Night is nothing more than a shadow.
Even in the darkest of nights, the sun does not cease to radiate its light. It continues to shine as bright as ever. But half of the earth is in darkness.
The absence of light causes darkness.
When the darkness of night falls, we do not despair and worry that the sun is extinguished. We do not postulate that the sun is not there or is dead. We understand that we are in a shadow, that the earth will continue to rotate, and that eventually the rays of the sun will reach us once again."
[What is this metaphor?
Can you see it?
Woah, honkin'!
Crud, that is so true about God!! That is what the world says about God! But it is not true. 11/15]@

19 Statistics That Prove Mental Illness Is More Prominent Than You Think

Whether you’re aware of it or not, chances are you know someone who has been personally affected by a mental health disorder.
Depression is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide and other mental health disorders are growing in numbers.
And while mental illness is starting to be considered the serious medical condition that it is, when it comes to healthcare, we still have a long way to go before mental health patients are treated with the respect afforded physical health patients. Research shows there’s still stigma surrounding these disorders.
Below are 19 statistics that prove these disorders touch more people than you might think.

61,500,000The approximate number of Americans who experience a mental health disorder in a given year. That’s one in four adults.

$100,000,000,000The estimated economic cost of untreated mental illness in the U.S. This includes unemployment, unnecessary disability, substance abuse and more.

70 - 90%The percentage of individuals with mental illness who saw improvement in their symptoms and quality of life after participating in some form of treatment.

800,000The estimated number of people globally who die by suicide each year.

25%The approximate amount of people with a mental illness who feel that others are compassionate or understanding toward those suffering from one of the disorders.

350,000,000The number of people worldwide who are affected by depression.

79%The percentage of all U.S. suicides committed by men.

40,000,000The number of adults who suffer from anxiety disorders in the U.S.

7.5%The number of college students who reported feeling depressed to the point where it negatively impacted their ability to function. Approximately 7.5 percent of college students also reported earlier this year that they seriously considered suicide in the last 12 months.

22The (potentially underestimated) number of veterans who die by suicide each day, according to a 2013 report by researchers at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

10%The percentage of children and adolescents whose mental and emotional disorders disrupt their day-to-day lives.

3,500,000The number of Americans who suffer from schizophrenia. The disorder usually develops between ages 16 to 25.

60%The percentage of adults who didn’t receive mental health treatment in 2012.

6,100,000The number of individuals in the U.S. who suffer from some form of bipolar disorder. [Kelly Owens has this. He says he feels so alive since he moved to Saint George and got off all his medications. He can go on, non stop for minutes on end but he is very serviceful! Put in as a counselor to Charlie Mienkey our HPGleader.]

21%The percentage of mothers polled in a recent BabyCenter survey who stated they have been diagnosed with postpartum depression. Approximately 40 percent of them did not seek medical treatment.

5,200,000The estimated number of adults who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder in a given year.

7The number of people who die by suicide per hour in the Americas.

11%The percentage of adolescents who have a depressive disorder before the age of 18.

90%The percentage of people who die by suicide who also had a mental health disorder.

@@Were there any of those facts that caught your eye? The one that caught mine was about veterans. :( @@Thursday 11/16 Elder Shurtz just came and updated me for his second time today. I must be his father figure away from home. :) He used Puzzilla to help a guy find 45 names to take to the temple. The guy tipped him $5! He was so excited to share it with me. Isn’t that cute! @ I walked Molly this morning. When I went out again last hour it was all overcast. I didn’t even notice the weather this morning. Was it overcast then? I didn’t think so. I took my cell but I did not call anyone. Just warming up and my brain was restful. No need to say anything. But now I am dying to share. I texted Varlo at the end of my walk: How many cars have you sold, did you sell? Varlo-90+ this year. Woah! Yippee! He responded. It has been months since he responded. As I neared the back block I had that idea come into my mind and low and behold it worked. It was the right question to get an answer. Magic! @ You have to know the secret special words for magic to happen. Abracadabra only works occasionally. @ My other home teachee, Bruce Randall-trucker texted me from IL. He doesn’t have much patience at times. He has a big busty loud live in girlfriend with a 19 year old son. Liz has her mother’s ashes to bury, who died 6 months ago. She has been getting him out to church! Yes! They lost the paper telling them the number of the ward to contact for dedicating the grave. He wanted me to look it up on lds.org and send it to him. Guess what I did instead? _____  A couple of weeks ago Bruce got a wild hair and told me to come visit as a hometeacher when he is in town. Then he promised to let me know when he is in town. I responded, Sounds Good!  Do I think he will ever do it? Not unless Liz reminds him. Does it mean I will stop texting a Sunday update each week? Nope. OK time is up. What did you guess?_____ Well as you know I am a risk taker. I sent him my ID and password for lds.org-1 plus I went and looked up the steps for dedicating a grave and emailed that to him as well-2.  Did you guess either? I asked him if my ID and password would be what he needed. He said, probably. You see Brandon, this way he has the tools and can fix and adjust to each problem that comes up instead of strictly depending on me if the phone number I found did not get answered. He has access to everything on lds.org plus, if no one comes to dedicate the grave he knows the steps for doing it himself. This last one really makes me giggle.  Why is he asking others to do it? Why did Liz get the info from our ward months ago? Answer: because beer and priesthood don’t go together. Tithing does, Sabbath day observance does, fulfilling your church calling does, temple attendance does, studying the gospel and living the commandments do, but the opposites don’t! How many blessing do you think you have had to give in your life? We know Varlo has sold 90+ cars this year. Are those as important as the blessings we have given in our lives? I watch the AP perform the ritual of the sacrament each Sunday and it is such an honor to act in the name of the Lord. What a sweet opportunity. The Quaker society has meetings where all they do is sit and meditate and pray and no one says a word. That would be a very long sacrament wouldn’t it!  So I am giggling inside. I gave him the tools but he won’t feel worthy to use it. @ When I had 6 baby blessings to perform and 6 baptisms and confirmations I did not feel worthy either. What do you do when you don’t feel worthy? Pass it on to someone else? @@ next, One computer has a blurry screen #B27 and the next one #B28 has a clear one. You don’t really notice to start with but when it comes to trying to see old Italian morte records it can really make a difference. I have been getting bored with these death records. Today I decided to break it up by using the blurry computer on the new web indexing/review program. They were clear and it worked just fine. I zipped through a couple of reviews but then I found one that was missing 4 of the 20 records. I had to stop and fill them in. That indexer didn’t know how to read the age of the deceased on about half of them either. When I finished that batch I felt very useful. There is a learning curve to these, of course. I told the big wig from Salt Lake, Elder Cheney that indexing is really where the rubber meets the road. He disagreed, saying the records can’t be used until they are reviewed! So reviewing is like grading papers at school. You have to correct all the mistakes. In my opinion, people on the other side will be pleased with those who index their records, just like a teacher is pleased with the creator of the story or writer of the test. Who cares about the corrector? Can you see where I am coming from? @ Do you remember the group Foreigner [Foreigner is a British-American rock band, originally formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran English musician Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald along with American vocalist Lou Gramm.]
They are still going! 40 years later and they are still going! I am surprised. I speed watched a Youtube documentary on them last night. I love the music interspersed with the interviews and commentary. One super group after another that everyone worshipped as teens has had their problems, especially personal. Addictions have taken their toll. So if a band has new members are they still the band? This band started with 6 members but there was too much testosterone so they whittled it down to 4. See the black bars that go from top to bottom? Those are the studio albums produced. They did one in 2010. One funny thing. They had a wonderful hit song but it was soft rock instead of hard rock and they lost their following!
Fri11/17/17 Hello Brandon, Last night was BoM class. I sent Janice D an email at noon inviting her to Arctic Circle to use my get one free coupon. After class she accepted and off we went! We went to Texas Roadhouse about 6 months ago after class and now we went to Arctic Circle. I don’t notice what I am eating when I eat in public. So it is only the first bite that I really notice and judge. She told me the funniest story about Dakota, her old lab who ate 5 lbs of raw potatoes fresh from the store, sack and all! I am not sure I believe the story. The other story I do believe. She found all the wrappers in her back yard after having left the net package of babybel cheeses out.  How could her dog unwrap all the cheese balls and leave the net and the wrappings but eat a 5 lb potato sack. No way! I am a cheap cheese buyer. 2lbs for $4 is the price I buy at. @@ I got a welcome but sad text response back from MichaelJ. He sounded angry. four days later,, and seven days before, good morning!
Thursday, November 16 from Michael J. I haven't had a Thanksgiving off since I was 18, in other words no. I will be working then sleeping and nothing else for pretty much that whole week. I am still on overnights, I've now spent the majority of my 27 months of my salary career on overnights. 17 months, I just counted it out.
10:25 PM hey Michael. Wow! I am not surprised. Do you miss it? Thanksgiving. V@@
hello Brandon, it is now 9:35 PM Friday night. I am done with my dog walk and my females to gay Lynn and Scott and Camille. I love you I think you're wonderful. As I was finishing my dog walk tonight, I wondered what I could do to help Michael feel more supported loved or rewarded. I thought maybe I could call his work. I could call the Centerville Walmart and ask them to give him a Turkey and the ham from me. Wouldn't that be fun? This time of year is a real grind for him. This Friday is Black Friday. And he is on the night crew and is responsible to make sure the shelves are all stocked. I considered writing an article entitled, Are WALMART WORKERS THE SLAVES OF SOCIETY? Needless to say, I hurt for him.@@ I made everyone at FS laugh at 1pm this afternoon. Do you remember Elder Gruff from my last post/letter? The one I gave $50 for future copies to? Personally I admire his big voice. It can really do the job. You don't have to wonder about what he said. For months and years I have imagined doing this and today the temptation got my goat and I did it. "May I have your attention please?" I stood up, at attention, with my right hand over my right eye. The room started giggling. "May I have your attention please. Some of you are talking. We have a class beginning in room B called Family Search games." Of course they were talking and laughing, I was making a fool of myself. They asked him to clarify the title/ name of the class a couple of times. Yes, he had their attention. :) And so did I. . . Sister Moon was working in the tiny missionary workroom with the door open. I had to go in and tell her what I had done. She was curious about the laughter she had heard. We both laughed. I probably won't ever do that again, but who knows. @@

Half the population of the earth never lived long enough to marry.

Sat11/4 Is it a miracle to have Christ show himself? Who has he shown himself to? Who hasn’t he shown himself to? Moroni is inspired by Ether prophesying from morning until the going down of the sun. Ether’s father was kept in captivity all his days. His grandfather was put into captivity and lived out his life in captivity. They are descendants of the brother of Jared. Over a thousand years have gone by and they still keep track of being descendants of the brother of Jared! Who cares? Answer: the kings. @ Yes it is a miracle to have Christ appear. He came to Moroni’s fathers after his resurrection and Moroni says that proves that at least some of them had faith, because there can be no miracles without faith. Awesome. Clear. 12 For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith.Ether prophesies great and marvellous things but the people won’t believe him because they don’t see them. This inspires Moroni to explain faith in detail. As Janice says: Believing is Seeing. Once you believe you can see! The secret: believe! Are you up to believing? Can you exercise that secret key? I can. Are there any helps? Are there any assists? Yes, but you have to want to believe. Who wouldn’t want to? This is a kind God. This is a loving, understanding, generous God. Can you imagine a God like that? Wouldn’t you want to have a God like that? Is there a better kind? But this God requires me to believe in him. If I want to have miracles I have to give him credit. If I will give him full credit he will perform miracles in my life! Does that sound like the kind of person I would like to be? Absolutely. I love being kind. I love understanding. I love being generous. It gives me such joy. Am I getting familiar with the feelings of the Celestial Kingdom? Yes. Will I be comfortable there? Yes. That is what it is all about. Is it social? Yes. Are we family? Yes. Can we contribute and be productive? Absolutely. See how it works? @ What is the opposite? 1- don’t believe. 2- don’t give credit. 3- be selfish. 4- be hateful, seek revenge, be vindictive. 5- don’t contribute. 6- don’t honor. 7- don’t love. How does that sound? Yuck. No thank you. So practice the secret: believe. Perform the action: contribute. The world has need of willing men who wear the worker’s seal. Come help the good work move along, put your shoulder to the wheel. Are these men wearing the worker’s seal? Am I wearing the worker’s seal? Except for when I bathe!
Can you guess which chapter in Ether I started copying today? Btw, that was an opening song for Gen Priesthood meeting. I felt the brotherhood of it! We can work together. Btw, that picture was the first when I googled: who wear the worker’s seal. @@ I stayed home with cold symptoms yesterday, I slept. I noticed how badly I missed getting out of the house and into FS, social atmosphere. @@
Livia died at the age of 16. You wouldn’t believe all the child deaths! What will she look like on the other side? Would you want to marry her? @ In earth life we have been brain washed by the media and our society to think that certain things make women beautiful. Isn’t it hard to imagine societies in the past the loved fat women because they had enough to eat and could produce healthy children?  So how we have been brain washed. You and I know it does not make a bit of difference to HF! But we are slaves to our mindset. We are slaves to our brainwashing. @ A few years ago it was the year of the butt. Versus breast. Twerking came into mode. Kardashian was on the front of PAPER magazine because of her big butt! Yuck. Are you a legs or a boob or a butt man? See how strange we are. Personally I think blue eyes are so attractive. What color hair do you prefer? In my late teens I told my short, brunette, hazel-eyed, beak nosed, mother I would never marry anyone like her. You can probably imagine why. The men thought she was hot stuff. And she loved to strut her stuff. But her meanness tainted her body image in my mind. Conclusion: Keep thinking about half the world’s population that never lived past a year or two and will be hunting for a righteous spouse on the other side. Live as righteously as you can so you will be sought after. @@@Hello Brandon it is Sunday night, as you know I like to write my home teachees a text message each Sunday to try and inspire them as well as to give them a monthly message since they don't like me coming to visit. Little do they know that this way they get a weekly message instead of a monthly message. :-) I tried to feel inspired when I write them. I want them to feel loved and accepted and encouraged and cared for. This week Bruce Randall texted me saying that he would let me know when he is in town, he drives a truck for Parke Cox trucking, and then we would be able to visit. I told him that would be fine. That's the plan. Monday morning! How do I know? Frank Haney. [Brandon, as it turns out Frank is flipping Varlo's house. That means he buys it, improves It, then resells it. No wonder he knows when Varlo was moving out.-v]
Congratulations Varlo n Andrea on packing. What a pain. CONGRATULATIONS! THANK you for all you added to our community. Thank you for your gentle kind articulate voice. God bless you.  ~~ ~~ ~~ Fifth Sunday meeting today, primary program etc.
You don't have to wonder what little children are feeling. They show it. I saw more cute feelings today. You would not believe how young our primary has gotten. Rows of tiny little kids! And they sang their hearts out for sister Hoppy!
We learn to hide her feelings. They are liabilities.! But be sure you fight that shield and share them with your God. He likes all all all our feelings. But aren't there bad or wrong feelings? Vern doesn't believe so. do you?
At least not my home teachees Have. Mine are good people And all their feelings are perfectly acceptable to God. Primary president Bradley reminded me in her talk about that. Feelings is also how the Holy Ghost witnesses to us.
So pray Intel heavenly father what you're thinking and feeling. Tell him over and over again because our feelings change. Don't ignore him. Talk to him. Visit with him. You can trust him. I promise.  V
I love you. You are wonderful. BR, A, V, E.[BruceR, AndreaD, VarloD, EricY]

Sunday, November 5, 2017 12:55 PM. Good afternoon BR, A, V, E.
“Testimony” was the closing him and I barely could sing it for tears. What a sweet meeting. What gripping sharing! Do You care about what is going on in the lives of your fellow Saints? Well we felt it today. And since we all know that the Bishop has cancer he doesn't have to testify long for the Ward members to key in on what he says. They love him. In his brief testimony was reflected various times by others. We had to tiny girls baptized yesterday. You should've seen them in their long white dresses today so sweet and their parents couldn't help but share how touched they were by the feelings of their baptisms.
We are spiritual beings being tested in a physical world. V@@So Brandon, I would have been much more worried about Varlo Davenport and his family if I hadn't known that they had Mark Clayton as a psychotherapist. @I think I mentioned to you that I was really pleased when Frank Haney told me that Varlo never responded to anything religious. He only texted Frank back when it was about selling the house. That means I wasn't alone. I can say that now after all these months and years of praying and hoping for them.
@@@ my brother Spot has never met Mark Clayton. He has lived in Boise Idaho for 20 years. Last month he moved to Denver. This week he expressed great pleasure at the response he received from his Urgent care physician. Spot turned 40 on November 1. He has been extremely private for the last 20 years and probably his whole life. He seems to be coming out of his shell and sharing a little bit more. Not only was I surprised but I cheered when I read this next text message from Scott.: Friday, November 3, 2017 1:32 PM. I love you! Thank you so much for the birthday voicemail. I have an inner ear and sinus infection so I am late in responding. I am sad to hear about Camille. [I had told him about Camille's life of fighting suicide. This last week we celebrated his arriving at the age of 40, having suffered all of the childhood abuse that we did. Scott was the last one and so my parents methods had been perfected by then. His testes were ruined and he has never been able to have children. He would lay lethargic in my parents bed day after day. They said that his anus was too small. He was just damaged from their sexual play.] I went to the urgent care doctor yesterday for the infection, since you don't need an appointment, and also to see if they would give me a holdover replacement prescription for my Fibromyalgia medicine which the movers stole. I was so surprised when in walked a clinical psychiatrist social worker. He came because I had answered that I had thought of suicide in the past. I don't hide from mental illness, I'm trying to break the social stigma. It floored me that it was just four questions and he KNEW me .He knew my past, and explained that almost all child abuse cases that end up in therapy in adult life suffer from some level of autoimmune disease. WOW! He explained so much, things I have put together, but just not in the whole picture. He did this in 20 min. I found my “Mark Clayton”. Awesome! He has answers and I'll be able to get to that next level of help.
Friday, November 3, 2017 6:31 PM. From Vern-WHAT? NO FAIR! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I am surprised, pleased, and amazed. That is so wonderful! Thank you heavenly father. V@@Wasn't that a Kick Brandon, when he even mentioned Mark Clayton? I love it.@Monday 11/6 Good morning Brandon, I enjoyed your letter. Thank you very much for writing. At one point you acted like you didn’t know what to say. Silly. Just comment on what I have written. Tell me what you think about one of the wild crazy variety of subjects I dialog about! Nevertheless, Thank you for writing. Do you like seeing what you wrote? Joseph Smith used to make a copy of all the letters he wrote. That makes sense when it takes so long to get a reply that you can’t remember what you said. Do you remember the 1832 first vision account? That same book was filled with copies of correspondence. They have updated the program and now I can’t even see it. But there’s a little microphone button that is either red or yellow or green. Dragon speak wants people to be able to use their dictation program for even flying around on the web. I only use it for dictating.

The wonderful people who work there are amazing, and very knowledgeable about the area and good hikes in the area. You could also buy your Christmas tree tag there, it’s about that time year.
Okay, so that’s my home away from home, so if you mentioned me to Becky, Jody Hemel, Arlene Perry, or any of the volunteers or other employees please let them know I constantly think of the good memories we shared. I don’t expect you to bring me up if you do happen to stop by. Father this: another reason I don’t like to write: feelings that can be described as homesickness. There you go: feelings. Crazy face. Your favorite topic.
Thank you for being so consistent in your including me in your adventures, and spiritual journeys. [This was the perfect thing to say! It compliments and encourages me in three ways. Thx.-v]
You know, thinking about it, I kind of think I made an assumption about the statement: “Elder Shurtz said she dated his sister.” He probably hates me. :-) anyway…
What do you want to know? My experiences are boring, and other things I just won’t talk about. You asked me to talk about my family… That’s not my place. I think they are awesome; you say they are “dysfunctional”. Nothing I write will change your opinion. I will not write any life stories: might especially. Keep smiling, and spreading good vibes. – Me
@@tues11/7 Hey Brandon, I have a brother, Spot’77 who almost had to declare bankruptcy to get all his bill collectors out of his life. Poor guy was being called scores of times a week and letters in the mail and all that. Heart surgery brother, Adrian’60 couldn’t believe he gave up coding/ programming to be a parasite on society 7 years ago. Only problem was SS never accepted them as disabled so K n S ran up their bills and finally couldn’t make their house payments. Adrian was so sad they were losing the house. @ Vern, Brent, Julie, Adrian, Camille, Gayelinn, Spot, all have stress diseases and maladjustments to society. Spot was so excited to find a clinical psychiatrist just by owning suicide feelings on his first visit to intensive care, that gave him credit and seemed to understand him and accept him. He likes to research things like me. So now comes his recommended article about how we 7 abused kids are having symptoms that are normal for our damage. As you know I like to call us “the walking wounded.” Remember the sons of perdition? Mark Clayton told Camille that even after all his abuse victims my parents are the first ones who he thinks qualify as sons of perdition. Do you think the Aztecs and others that believed in and practiced human sacrifice were deceived and really worshipping Satan? I do. But they wouldn’t qualify as Sons of P because they hadn’t seen and known the Saviour. Judas did. @ Here is Scott’s article. It looks long and boring but I am expecting to find some reassurance in it.

Autoimmune Disease & Histories of Stress

Adults having functional (symptoms without apparent cellular alterations) and organic (observable cellular changes in target tissue) diseases also have childhood stressful histories. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis not only report chronically stressful adult histories (e.g. unhappy marriages or relationships, difficulties at work, or with children, etc.), but also present histories of difficulties in earlier interactions with their mothers and experiences of considerable chronic threat (Baker, 1982). In addition, rheumatoid arthritis patients report childhood histories that are characterized by emotional neglect and abuse (Walker et al., 1997a). Later adult joint swelling is associated with an increased sense of depression in response to difficulty managing interpersonal conflict as well as conflictual coping with flares (Zautra et al., 1994, 1999; Marcenaro et al., 1999).[conflictual coping with flares - there is the first “over my head psychological jargon”-vj{?}] Higher stress levels in this patient population are associated with androgen-stimulated estradoil negative feedback and higher stress neurohormonal prolactin activity. Both hormones have been positively correlated with the rheumatoid arthritis patient’s sense of depression (Zautra et al., 1994). With disease progression (or just prior to disease expression) patients assess and conclude that they cannot garner control over and cope with aversive interpersonal life events. This sense of “giving up” appears to underlie the chronicity of their physical illness (Zauntra et al., 1999). The intensity of this sense of loss of control is also associated with the degree of disease flare reactivity to stress.
Patients with systemic lupus erthymatosis present histories of marked childhood emotional deprivation (Otto & Mackay, 1967). Just prior to symptom expression, patients emit a sense of helplessness and hopelessness, “I give up”, that relates to the SLE patient’s inability to cope with the effects of current and prior stress (Blumenfeld, 1978).
The majority of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients, {Kathyx} like healthy controls, tend to portray their childhood home life and themselves as moderately to very happy and also as relaxed and taking things in stride, respectively (Warren et al., 1982). Despite these similarities MS patients rated that they experience more anxiety in response to current stressors. Upon further inquiry MS patients disclose disturbing memories relating to wartime combat, an unpredictable urban attack, a major automobile accident and minor injury, raising oneself at the age of twelve years, and persistent beatings by step-father, etc (p. 829). Numerous adult stressors precede the initial onset of MS symptoms (Warren et al., 1982). Despite MS patients more positive outlook on life, psychiatric assessment has revealed that MS patients differ from healthy subjects in the insecurity that drives their need to seek greater love, their use of rigid defense mechanisms, i.e. as denial and minimization, and difficulty at resolving inner conflicts due to poor coping skills. Many of these personality characteristics date back to early childhood and correlate positively with symptom severity (Diana et al., 1985). [I found that interesting. MS people painted a rosy picture at first!-v]
Chronic stress also appears to play a more obvious role in functional diseases like fibromyalgia and irritable bowel disease. Fibromyalgia (Taylor et al., 1995) is condition that is associated with different types of pain and other symptoms, e.g. headaches, stiffness, backaches, abdominal cramps, fatigue, numbness, etc. with no apparent structural abnormality in the tissue. The extent of pain is measured by tender point counts. Fibromyalgia patients report (Imbierowicz & Egle, 2003) having had very poor emotional relationships with one or both parents, particularly fathers (McBeth et al., 1999), and rated low levels of emotional security. [bps, remember when Spot said the movers stole his fibromyalgia medication?-v] The parents of fibromyalgia patients have also been described as being emotionally neglectful, abusive, and as of being psychologically unavailable (Walker et al., 1997b) to their children. In addition fibromyalgia patients seem to have difficulties in talking about and expressing emotional difficulties with their own parents as well as affection in the course of their roles as marital partner and parent (Imbierowicz & Egle, 2003). [Sister Michele Randall city councilwoman running for her next 4 year term, neighbor to Davenports; Sister Shelley Caldwell our behind the scenes ward program creator both skip church all the time from pain and fear have Fibromyalgia, as does Patsy Lamb, stake president’s wife emeritus.-v] Fibromyalgia patients report witnessing parental violence in their families of origin (Imbierowicz & Egle, 2003), family disruption (Goldberg et al., 1999), and as having experienced physical and sexual abuse themselves (Boisset-Pioro et al., 1995) or the unwanted touch of another (Taylor et al., 1995). Childhood maltreatment is highly correlated with both psychiatric distress as well as fibromyalgia symptom severity as measured by higher tender point counts (Walker et al., 1997b; McBeth t al., 1999). A far greater percentage of women having experienced wide areas of intense pain, are those same individuals who tend to report prior childhood (and/or adult) sexual abuse (Finestone et al., 2000). Patients in this group, especially those with histories of emotional trauma (Aaron et al., 1997), tend to seek health care and report the greatest number of family physician visits and number of surgical operations (Firestone et al., 2000). [Yikes-v]  In response to their stressful histories, fibromyalgia patients present symptoms of a lifetime of depression, history of somatization {?}, anxiety, hysteria, and psychasthenia{?} (Ahles et al., 1984; Hudson et al., 1985; Burckhardt et al., 1993; Walker et al., 1997b) as well as deficits in emotional and social role functioning. [Notice these brilliant people don’t lack for intelligence. They are so bright and often are overachievers because they want to control their lives.-v]
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder (with symptoms of abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel patterns in the absence of cellular abnormalities) that also presents comorbity{?} with fibromyalgia and vice versa (Veal et a., 1991; Canataroglu et al., 2001). IBS patients also bring their chronic emotional and visceral responses to their histories of childhood (and adult if appropriate) physical and sexual abuse (Walker et al., 1995), exposure to threat (Dill et al., 1997), psychological family disruption (Lowman et al., 1987) as well as emotional and verbal abuse (Talley et al., 1995) into their current emotional and physical experience. [Dear HF, this doesn’t sound fair!-v] They are more likely to present chronic depression, generalized anxiety, and symptoms of somatization (Walker et al., 1995) than patients with symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or ulcerative colitis. IBS patients who had endured chronic threat throughout their lives and prior to symptom expression are less likely to respond positively to treatment’s effects (Bennett et al., 1998). In a group of symptomatic IBS patients, psychosocial stress was negatively correlated with recovery from post-infective symptoms. Rectal biopsy specimens showed increased chronic inflammatory cell counts when compared with remitted IBS patients despite recovery from active infection (Gwee et al., 1999). Those patients with both inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and psychiatric diagnoses tend to present histories of adult victimization of physical and sexual abuses (Walker et al., 1996) and suffer significantly greater symptom distress than an IBD population without psychiatric diagnoses.[This one IBD deeply affects Spot.-v]
The literature suggests that there is some link between childhood histories of adversity, (i.e. emotional neglect, disruption, and trauma, as well as physical and sexual abuse) and adult populations having autoimmune disease. Histories of adversity elicit chronic persistent stress arousal (as the reader will see later in this web site) that have the capacity to underlie the later development of physical disease by chronically stimulating stress neurocircuitry, neurohormones, and proinflammatory cytokines. Stress induced inflammation is not easily extinguished in persistently and chronically stressful environments, especially during early childhood when the brain and central nervous system is undergoing a remarkable rate of growth. Neurohormonal mechanisms for negative feedback and anti-inflammatory immune markers to cool chronic arousal and inflammation provide strategies that only work on limited complementary inflammatory responses. The interaction of all these neurobiological components allow for the later expression of physical symptoms.
Future sections of this web site will demonstrate how chronic stress underlies the later genetic expression for psychiatric symptoms (e.g. depression, PTSD, anxiety, aggression associated with anti-social personality disorder, etc.) and organic and functional disease (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosis, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, polymyalgia rheumatica, as well as fibromyalgia and IBS). The later expression of adult symptoms is dependent on both one’s genetic predisposition and the degree and duration of chronic stress. The intensity of the stress response is more important to an individual’s neurobiological response than its nature. The interaction of both these variables will determine the nature of neuroendocrine and neuroimmune synthesis, release, and secretion to life stressors at any point in the life cycle.

“aggression associated with anti-social personality disorder”- Las Vegas massacre was done by an anti-social personality. We see only the surface when the news is reported and we are left wondering why? WHY?
@@@ Woah, that was a professional article wasn’t it. It was not for the masses. It was not from Wikipedia! I don’t like learning about stuff like that. It depressed me. About half way through I started asking myself, can Jesus Christ and HF perform miracles to overcome this stuff? When do they and when don’t they? I would love to know the details about how that works!!!! : Pie in the sky, Shot in the dark, Pipe dream.
pipe dream ˈpīp ˌdrēm/noun\an unattainable or fanciful hope or scheme.\
synonyms:
fantasy, false hope, illusion, delusion, daydream, chimera;
castle in the air, castle in Spain;
informal pie in the sky
