How many times do you scream before the car hits you?

8:56p

Just got back from a bike ride to Pet Smart and back. I stopped at Harmons on the way home and got some milk and popcorn. Pet Smart closed at 6 pm, I was too late. As I crossed the Harmons intersection on a green light for me, a small sports car came around the corner from the south, turning west. It didn't see me crossing the road and hadn't slowed down because it was a green light and there were no cars behind me.

I screamed in a deep hoarse voice twice. I lifted my legs so they wouldn't get broken again. And. . . nothing happened. I wondered why I was still riding. I had tensed up for the crash and hoped I could sit on the car's hood and roll over the top of the cab. It had missed me or angels had slowed the car or something. The last time I was hit by a pick up truck was turning left as well, onto River Road. The same old road. I was in shock for about a block. Am I really still here? Did that not happen?

It took me until I had crossed the Virgin River before I had settled enough to pray. What ever happened back there Heavenly Father so that I wasn't hit, thank you.

I was crossing the intersection by Denny's South once and wrecked into the curb by speed pedaling to avoid a left turning car as well. I had a jacket on so my elbows and body was bruised but not bleeding. My right knee doesn't kneel well ever since that pick up in January of  '92.

So yes I am a risk taker and yes my cup is already full for this month. No my voice is not damaged, but I wonder if the driver heard me. There was a car just to the right of me on 700 South waiting to turn North but stopped by the red light who probably had a birds eye view of the hole event and maybe even stereo sound of those brakes squealing at the last moment. TYHF. No trip to the emergency room, no months of recuperation. Glory be!
